Saleabration

This hop, we will be showcasing some of the products from the new Sale-a-bration catalogue.  I love this little catalogue - it only comes out for a short time but it offers you free products as a thank you for purchasing products from me.  If you have a moment, take a look - there are some really cute goodies in there.  And this little gem is one of them.  I'm using the Hippest Hippos Stamp Set and the Hippo Dies for this card.  Isn't she the most gorgeous little hippo.

I've played with a few different techniques here - all pretty simple.  To be honest, I found this card quite relaxing because I did a bit of fussy cutting.  I love fussy cutting when I just want to switch off from the electronics in my life, its a great way just zone out and get things done, without being stressed.

I started with a piece of Melon Mambo Cardstock - 14.9 x 21 cm (scored at 10.5cm and folded in half).
I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock - 14.4 x 10 cm and placed it on the base using multipurpose glue.
Then I cut a piece 13.9 x 9.5 cm from a sheet of the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Papers - there are so many beautiful colour combinations to choose from - just choose a fun colour that suits your mood and build your card from there.

Next I choose a scrap piece of the matching DSP and stamped a few of the cute little dancing hippos onto it to get a range of colour variations.

Then I cut out a couple of sections of her outfit to use later.  I've cut her full outfit from a lighter section and the skirt from the bright section.

Next, I stamped the little dancer on a scrap of basic white carsdtock and coloured her in using Light and dark Smokey Slate Stampin Blends and Light and Dark Petal Pink Stampin Blends. Then I glued the light pink cut out, matching it to the lines on the white cardstock.

Popped on the next piece for her skirt.  (I love the textured look of the paper).

I used the hippo dies to cut her out, then discovered some really cute little flowers as well in the pack.  So I used them to cut some more bits from the DSP scrap so everything matched together.

I coloured her slippers in a matching blend pen, gave her some lips and popped a little flower in her hair. The little pearl in the centre of the flower is from the Festive Pearls and matches perfectly.

When I started putting it all together it seemed like something was missing.  I don't like busy fussy cards, but I like to add a bit of something so its not so plain or bland.  So I turned over the piece of DSP I had used for the back ground and the skirt and found this......

How pretty are these flowers?  So I fussy cut one of those and a leaf, and popped it on the card using dimensionals.  Along with a short piece of  the Natural Finish ribbon, and the little flowers I'd cut out early.  Then I added my little ballerina using dimensionals as well.  I stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Momento Ink...... and there you have it.  I think she is pretty cute.

This stamp set and dies are free gifts - one each time you spend $90.  Want them both?  See the list of products below.  Everything you need to create this card (and many many more cards) is listed below, you can choose to purchase them all, or just a few.  The link will tak you directly to my website.
