Waterfall Card Technique - Stamping With Friends Blog Hop

Hi crafters - its great to see you back here again.
This card challenge was very daunting but actually heaps of fun once I got started on it.
This time we are making a waterfall card.
I have to admit, I had so much fun playing with the finished card that I forgot to take a photo of it.  Just some of the steps along the way and the waterfall mechanism working, but I'm sure you will get the idea.  I created this one to gift to my grand daughter who recently had a beautiful baby boy - yes, that makes me a Great Grandma and I love it.

This is what it looks like once complete:

Let's step you through how to make one.

I started with cardstock :

Azure Afternoon - 21 x 14.9 cm (score at 10.5 on the long side)
Basic White - 13.9 x 9.5 cm (emboss with Stripes and Splatters Embossing Folder)
Basic White - 6 x 6 cm (x 5)
Basic White - 21 x 3 cm (Scored at 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 cm)
Basic white - 6 x 3 cm (scored at 1 and 5 cm)
Crumb Cakes - 6.5 x 6.5 cm (x 5)

Firstly I took all the 6 x 6 cm squares and stamped them in Momento Ink using images from Places in the Heart stamp set and Sweet and Precious stamp set.
Then I used a selection of  Stampin Blends to colour the images.

Now we take the piece of long white cardstock and attach the crumb cake squares.  I used Multipurpose glue for this section so that I had time to wriggle the cardstock to make sure they were sitting in the right place.   Place the first piece of crumb cake up to the score line, then place each crumb cake square on top of the previous one - pressed up to the next score line.  Only place adhesive on the small section of white between the two score lines so they don't stick together.  From the back, this is what this process looks like.

And the whole piece can bend easily at each score line.

Using the 6 x 3 cm white cardstock - attach the folding piece to your card front.  Again I used the multipurpose glue only on the folded tabs (glue side to the card base - not to the waterfall mechanism).  The small piece will wrap around the longer pieceand then stick to the card front like a little pocket or tab, so the longer piece can slide back and forth.  Its a good idea to test the positioning first to make sure there is room for the cards to flip as you pull the tab down.

Now we can attach the stamped squares to the crumb cake squares.  Make sure you have the order of the squares correct so they run in the right order.  I used Multipurpose glue for this section so that I had time to wriggle the cardstock to make sure they were sitting in the right place.
I placed the bottom card first (with the mum and bub) then the next one (giraffes) on top of that and continued until they were all attached. Trim and decorate the tab as you like.

(Edit note - having completed these instructions I can see some steps may be difficult to understand, so I will try to create a video of each step and will attach later)
