Colour Combo Blog Hop August 2023

Hi everyone, this time round I am hopping with the Colour Combo Group and you will see some truely stunning cards using the chosen colours - Blueberry Bushell, Calypso Coral and Lemon Lime Twist.  I have to admit, when I first saw the combination I did screw my nose up a little - "what are they thinking?" - lol.  But with a little bit of thought and playing with addition colours, I actually love where this choice has taken me.  They are not colours I would normally consider working with on one project.

And here's a little sneak peak of my finished project.  They actually all work really well together.

So I started with the 3 basics, and added 3 more - the Basic white, Granny Apple Green and Petal Pink.  The extra colours just helped to bring it all together.  The Blueberry Bushell is the base for my card so I cut it to 21 x 15 cm and scored on the long side at 10.5 cm.  The white is cut to 14.1x 9.7 cm.

I started with the Bough Punch and cut a couple of stems in both the Lemon Lime Twist and the Granny Apple Green.

I cut a circle from the top centre of the Basic White Cardstock using the 2 3/8 circle punch.

I have used the Multipurpose Glue to adhere the white panel to the card base, then used the happy birthday sentiment from the So Refreshing Stamp Set using Versamark Ink, White Embossing Powder and my trusty Heat Tool.  I love the effect embossing gives, so I use it a lot.

From there I wasn't really sure where to go with this card so I hauled out my Cut and Emboss Machine and cut a whole pile of flowers from the Paper florist Dies in both Petal Pink and Calypso Coral.

I used lots of the smaller dies from the same set to cut the centres for the flowers in white and Lemon Lime Twist.  Normally I would have used yellow, but have you ever sat and really studied the centres of flowers?  Some of them are actually green, so I thought I'd give it a try.

I started to gently bend and shape the flowers and laid them all out to see how the colours would work together, and once I was satisfied, I started to stick them altogether.  I like to use the Multipurpose glue for this so I can move the pieces around a bit to make sure they are perfectly centred.

I've added a few little butterflies and this is the end result - I love it.  If I were to do it again, the only thing I would change would be to use an embossing folder on the white to add a little more texture to the card.
